I’ll never forget standing barefoot in the fresh dewy grass on those Spring mornings. Watching my father in the garage tinkering around with our fishing rods and making the perfect selections to fill the tackle box, hopeful for a great haul. My father was a blue-collar all American, a simple factory man for 40 years. But when he was hunched over that tackle box on his work bench, picking out spinnerbaits and critters, listening to AM radio and talking loudly to me about the weather – he was an angling engineer, the smartest man I knew, my hero.
My father has since passed, but his passion and love for the sport of fishing lives on. He taught me everything I know and then some, and I wanted to honor his memory in a way that I thought he’d be proud of. I began flipping through the pages of our family photos until I landed on the one that started it all. It was us in front of our massive, rusted Craftsman tool box full of colored bait and tackle, my favorite part about prepping for a day on the lake. It was an art watching him select the best lures for the day’s catch.
Well, I took that moment in time that I held so dear, pulled it from the ol’ dusty shores of my memory bank and made it a reality. I started Bass Pro Source not for myself, not for my father, but ALL the father and son partnerships that begin in the garage, in front of the Plano or out on lake. For so many, it’s more than a sport, a hobby or dinner that evening. It’s a family tradition, and that is exactly what we deliver in every product that leaves our hands and lands in your tackle box.
